You have two weekends left to step into the spotlight and become part of the action at Avant Bard’s Open Filming of Homeless Garden, directed by Avant Bard Producing Partner Kathleen Akerley! Use code AVANTHOME and your tickets will be half price!
Remember, in this unique and interactive experience, the audience isn’t just watching a film being made—you’re part of it. Each filming session five pages of the screenplay are filmed and between takes there is curated and freeform discussion about the issues explored by this work. We turn the cameras on you – turning spectators into filmmakers. This is your chance to see behind the scenes and in front of the camera, all at once.
But don’t just take our word for it – from a recent attendee:
We agree! Don’t miss this unique opportunity! Come back more than once! All attendees will be emailed access to the full film once complete.
Disclaimer: There is absolutely no requirement to be filmed if you don’t want to be – you’ll just let the box office know and we’ll ensure no footage of you gets into the final cut!
See the DC Theatre Arts article about this project for more information.
Avant Bard Producing Partner Kathleen Akerley directs and the cast includes Producing Partner Sara Barker with Jordan Brown, Lucy Redmon Connell, Louis E. Davis, Kate Kenworthy, Matthew Pauli, Danielle Rhodes, and Rachel Sanderson.
All Saturday 2:00 pm tickets are Pay What You Can!
New for 2024: Free admission to the show is open to all Arlington middle and high school students along with $20 tickets for their accompanying parent(s)/guardian(s).
Important Note: The open filming takes place over four weekends, so each filming session covers only a portion of the play. A list of the scenes being filmed on each day, plus synopses of The Cherry Orchard and Homeless Garden, are available here. All attendees will be emailed access to the full film once complete and as it’s being submitted for festival runs.
